Anchor DiveLights began in 2001, in a student garage in Ireland, where Declan Burke started building torches that wouldn’t fail him underwater. As a diver and engineer, he saw the flaws in the gear around him: unreliable lamps, clunky batteries, no way to fix what broke. So he built his own. Not for the market, but for himself and a few friends who couldn’t afford better.
Years later, as a dive instructor on the Donegal coast, he saw the need again. Divers wanted lights that could go deep, stay bright, and be repaired instead of replaced. In 2010, Anchor Dive Lights was officially born.
What’s remarkable is how little the ethos has changed. These lights are still assembled in Ireland, still designed with divers in mind, and still carry that promise: if something breaks, we fix it. That makes Anchor a natural fit with Aqua Star Network. We believe in long-term thinking, in brands with soul, and in products made by people who actually use them. Anchor doesn’t just light the way, it shows what gear can look like when integrity leads the design.
